Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-10-21

This Privacy Policy explains what information Fixwise Digital (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit https://fixwisedigital.com/, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and in plain English.

The short version

  • You can read every article without an account and without giving us any personal information.
  • We only collect personal information you choose to give us, for example when you leave a comment or send us a message.
  • We never sell your personal information.

Information we collect

Comments

When you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address and (optional) website you enter, plus your IP address and browser details to help detect spam. Your email address is never shown publicly. An anonymised string created from your email address (a “hash”) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture there; Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. If your comment is approved, your name, picture and comment are shown publicly.

Contact form

When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message. These are sent to our email inbox so we can reply. We don’t add you to any mailing list.

Newsletter

If we run a newsletter and you sign up, your email address is handled by our email provider and used only to send you that newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Server logs

Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information such as IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to keep the site secure and working.

Cookies and local storage

The site design itself doesn’t use tracking cookies. It stores two small preferences in your browser’s local storage: whether you chose light or dark mode, and whether you answered “Did this fix it?” on an article. These never leave your device.

If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name and email in a cookie so you don’t have to type them again. Site administrators who log in also receive login cookies.

Third-party services

To display our fonts, this site loads them from Google Fonts. When your browser downloads them, Google receives your IP address. You can read Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Articles may contain embedded content such as videos or screenshots from other websites. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that website, which may collect data about you.

If we add analytics or advertising in the future, we’ll list those services here and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.

How long we keep your information

Comments and their details are kept for as long as the comment is on the site. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell or rent your personal information. We only share it with the services that run this website (such as our hosting and email providers), or when the law requires it. Comments may be checked by an automated spam-detection service.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Just send us a message through our contact page. Depending on where you live (for example the UK, EU, Australia or California), you may have additional rights under local law, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page if anything changes and update the date at the top.
